This project aims to educate immigrant and refugee women on key aspects of the real estate and housing system in Canada. The series of education sessions will consist of four core workshops, each delivered quarterly, reaching a wide range of participants throughout the year. Topics will include:

1. Understanding Tenancy: Rights and responsibilities of renters in Alberta, including leases, deposits, repairs, eviction processes, and landlord-tenant communication.
2. Pathways to Home Ownership: Education on the home-buying process in Canada, including how to build credit, mortgage types and approval processes, and key steps in purchasing a home.
3. Financial Literacy for Housing: How to save for a home, budget effectively, understand mortgages, and access government programs that support low-to-moderate income families with home purchases (e.g., First-Time Home Buyer Incentive).
4. Emergency Housing and Crisis Supports: Where to turn for safe shelter and transitional housing, especially in situations involving family violence or eviction, and how to access services like women’s shelters and housing support organizations.

Each session will be delivered in plain language and supported with translated materials where needed. The workshops will be facilitated in coordination and partnership with local organizations to provide relevant and up-to-date information.
